Bac Ninh and Bac Giang are currently the hardest hit localities during the ongoing wave of COVID-19 in Vietnam.
While in Bac Ninh, the top legislator lauded the province’s preparations to ensure safety for the elections.
Given the COVID-19 spread, Bac Ninh held early voting at 14 polling stations on Saturday, with the turnout rate reaching 100%.
Bac Ninh has recorded 460 COVID-19 cases, mainly in Thuan Thanh district. The province has established quarantine facilities that can accommodate up to 20,000 people.
Speaking with Bac Giang leaders, Chairman Hue praised the province’s efforts to add 12,000 voters and nearly 4,300 ballot boxes, helping 60,000 people staying in quarantine due to COVID-19 to exercise their citizen right and duty.
Mr. Hue hailed the province for promptly taking actions, especially the suspension of four major industrial parks’ operations in a bid to curb the spread of the pandemic.
He presented dozens of ventilators and hundreds of thousands of face masks to help the two provinces battle COVID-19.
In Hanoi’s Dong Anh district, Mr. Hue had an online meeting with medical workers of the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases – the front line in the COVID-19 fight.
Director of the Health Ministry’s Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Luong Ngoc Khue said that to serve voters who are being quarantined and treated at the hospital, ballot boxes have been brought to each quarantine room.
Chairman Hue appreciated efforts by doctors, medical workers and those working on the front lines of the COVID-19 fight in casting their votes and practicing their citizen rights.
