NA Chairwoman attends tree planting festival in Hoa Binh

(VOVWORLD) -National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended a ceremony in Lam Son commune, Hoa Binh province, on Wednesday, to respond to the national Lunar New Year tree planting festival.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairwoman Ngan said green growth and sustainable development have become a top concern of all nations in the world and that growing more trees will help mitigate ravages of disasters, prevent erosion, reduce floods and improve the living environment. Ms. Ngan said:“Party Committees and administrations at all levels need to strengthen education of the significance and purposes of the tree planting festival and urge people from all walks of life to take part in the festival as wished by President Ho Chi Minh. Measures and plans should be in place to cover more than 1.7 million ha of hilly land with trees. Trees should be planted regularly, involving all authorities and communities.”

National Assembly Chairwoman Ngan, local leaders and 2,000 people planted more than 2,000 trees in Lam Son commune.
