The meeting approved a nomination of the Vietnamese National Assembly Chairwoman as Vice President of the Committee as Ms. Ngan will be Chair of AIPA next year. Chairwoman Ngan told the meeting that the next AIPA General Assembly will be held in Vietnam’s Ha Long City in August next year. 

Earlier, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Thailand.  

Ms. Ngan spoke highly of the contributions by the embassy staff and the Overseas Vietnamese (OV) in Thailand. She also briefed them on Vietnam’s socio-economic situation over the recent past and stressed that the Party, State and National Assembly always give great attention, support and facilitation for the Vietnamese representative offices in foreign countries. The leader also asked the embassy staff and members of the community to continue their work so as to nurture the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership for further development, and to contribute to the national construction. Chairwoman Ngan said:“I hope that the Vietnamese here will continue to abide by the policies and law of your countries of residence so that the local administrations and people will have the trust and appreciation of Vietnamese. You are Thai citizens of Vietnamese origin, so you preserve the cultural trait of Vietnamese and integrate into your second homeland. We want to extend our patriotism and love to you, who are living far away from home.”
