The Dien Bien police are taking care of the bear according to a care guide from Animals Asia until the rescue team arrives. The cub has a white W mark on its chest, so its name is Wonder. Experts say the cub is safe and eating well.
Dien Bien province has handed over 12 bears to the Animal Asia since 2007.
The rescue team is scheduled to bring Wonder Bear to Vietnam Bear Rescue Center in Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc Friday night. It will have a health check and receive treatment for injuries for a month before being sent to a semi-natural sanctuary.
The Vietnam Bear Rescue Center are now accommodating 189 bears.
