Ms. Patel said the UK is committed to strengthening the linkage of interests in the Indo-Pacific region, stepping up cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) across spheres, and supports ASEAN’s centrality in maintaining the regional architecture.

The UK will continue to contribute to peace, stability, security, and freedom of aviation and navigation in the East Sea in line with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982 UNCLOS).
