Dung performed outstandingly at South East Asian Games as captain of the Vietnam U22 men football team. He scored a goal in the final match against Indonesia, helping Vietnam win its first SEA Games football gold medal in history.

Midfielder Quang Hai won the Silver Ball, barely beating out defender Trong Hoang, who finished third with Bronze Ball title.

Defender Van Hau, who is now playing for the Netherlands club SC Heerenveen, was named Best Young Player for the second consecutive year.

Forward Huynh Nhu won a Golden Ball award in the women’s division.
