(VOVworld) – A meeting was held in Hanoi today for World Environment Day on June 5th. Themed ‘Green Economy: Does it include you?’, this year’s activities emphasize on the important role of every individual to contribute in developing a green economy toward the use of renewal and clean energy, reduction of greenhouse gas emission, and sustainable growth. Vice President of Vietnam Fatherland Front Le Ba Trinh says ‘Green economy is a people-centered model. Boosting green economy and renovating environment management are the two factors to ensure sustainability of each country and the globe at large. We are here to respond to action programs on environmental protection initiated by the UN and Vietnam’.
Activities are under way across the country including models to combine environmental protection with a campaign to unite the entire society to develop cultural lifestyle in residential areas. There is also a move to reduce poverty while protecting the environment.
