Malaysian lawyers propose bringing MH17 case to ICC

(VOVworld) - Malaysian lawyer Darryl Goon said on September 29 that Malaysia may ask the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate and try those responsible for the downing of Malaysia Airlines’ flight MH17 in eastern Ukraine two years ago.

The New Straits Times cited the lawyer as saying that because the incident happened abroad Malaysia doesn’t have the right to investigate.  Another Malaysian lawyer, Shailender Bhar, said authorities need to clarify who shot down the plane and stressed the importance of investigation, not only for Malaysia’s efforts to search and punish the culprits but also to pave the way to suing them.
