Addressing an emergency meeting on measures to cope with the storm, Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Vietnam’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and head of the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, called for vigilance and the evacuation of people from areas at risk. He ordered fishing vessels to dock at safe shelters and that measures be taken to ensure public safety. Cuong said: “The storm will strengthen when it makes landfall. Thorough preparations and efforts should be made to minimize the storm’s damage. Special attention should be given to infrastructure projects.”

Localities have geared up for storm Bebinca. Vessels are banned from putting out to sea. Measures have been taken to ensure the safety of travelers. Reservoirs, sea dykes, and irrigation works have been reinforced. People have been evacuated from areas prone to flash floods and landslides in Vietnam’s northern mountainous provinces.

The storm is forecast to strike Vietnam’s northern and northern central provinces, bringing strong winds and heavy waves on Friday morning. 30 thousand officials and 20 thousand vehicles have been deployed to key areas to cope with the storm.
