Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam made the statement at Wednesday’s meeting with ministries and agencies on the employment situation in the first quarter of this year and on measures to deal with the labour shortage.

Participants suggested that localities should conduct surveys and diversify methods of information dissemination to persuade workers to return to work.

Ngo Duy Hieu, Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, underscored the need to promulgate policies to attract workers in key economic zones with greater focus on housing issues and educational facilities, especially public schools for workers' children.

“Vocational training institutions should be urged to offer training programs, especially short courses, amid the pandemic and the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” said Mr. Hieu.
