A residential area having a COVID-19 patient in Da Nang is put in quarantine.

The groups involve the police, the military, social organizations, and the local medical sector. Da Nang is now Vietnam’s COVID-19 hotspot.

After two COVID-19 infection cases were recorded in Buon Ma Thuot city,  Dak Lak provincial authorities in the Central Highlands  imposed social distancing measures and a 14-day city-wide quarantine from Monday to August 16.

Ha Nam province has ordered a shutdown of non-essential businesses and large gatherings to prevent the spread of COVID-19 after a coronavirus case was confirmed a day earlier. The order took effect on Monday.

On Monday, the central province of Quang Nam decided to isolate Luu Minh residential area which is home to a family of COVID-19 patients. The area has more than 380 people. Earlier, the Ministry of Health confirmed all 7 members of the family have contracted COVID-19 from a 67-year-old patient called patient 522.

The central province of Thua Thien Hue has decided to stop receiving tourists coming from COVID-19 hot spots. The province has also prepared facilities and venues to use as quarantine areas if necessary. It has asked people to wear masks at public places and has shut down all non-essential services like karaoke parlors and bars and banned festivals and religious gathering.

By Monday evening, Vietnam had 642 COVID-19 cases. 373 of them have recovered and 6 deaths have been reported.
