At the announcement ceremony held on Friday in Hanoi, the Organizing Committee said performing for the first time in Vietnam, Secret Garden plans to bring a collection of works that made their name along with minimalist stage arrangements, honoring the storytelling through sound - from melodies rich in images to hybrid songs between classical, Nordic folk-Celtic, suitable for the sophisticated enjoyment space of Vietnamese audiences in the autumn days of Hanoi.
Secret Garden, an Irish-Norwegian musical duo of composer Rolf Løvland and violinist Fionnuala Sherry, is renowned for blending classical, folk, and pop music. The group rose to global fame after winning the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest with “Nocturne.”
Secret Garden’s “You Raise Me Up” (music by Rolf Løvland and lyrics by Brendan Graham) became an inspirational song recorded by over 100 artists, entering popular culture as the “emotional choir” of graduations and celebratory events.
