On average, about 1,000 people cross the border a day, most of them are tourists, workers looking for work, and visiting relatives.
Captain Hoang Trong Khai of the Huu Nghi Border Guard Station said: "In the border gate area we have deployed personnel to control and regulate vehicles, and import-export activities to ensure everyone’s safety. We have a contingency plan in case the number of arrivals increases to 5,000 or 6,000 people per day."

China reopening its border gate is a boon for tourism in Lang Son province after nearly three years of being affected by COVID-19.

To be ready to welcome visitors, the Lang Son tourism sector has trained human resources, found new partners, improved products and services, and promoted tourism cooperation with Guangxi, China.

Mr. Ngo Manh Tung, Director of the Kim Son International Travel Branch and Deputy Chairman of the Lang Son Tourism Association, said: "The number of tourists from China traveling to Vietnam is large. We have made plans to welcome the Chinese visitors and bring Vietnamese tourists to China. We have established more tours and improved our services. We organize Famtrip to invite Chinese partners to experience and promote new tourism products and tours in Lang Son province."
