India has reported 23.7 million COVID-19 infections, the most after the US  with 33.5 million cases.

The Japanese government on Wednesday said it will ban entry for foreigners who have been in India, Pakistan, or Nepal in the past 14 days. The ban will take effect from Friday. Japanese citizens living in India are advised not to return to Japan right now.

After nearly 2 months of the third lockdown, France is reporting lower numbers of COVID-19 infections and deaths. The French Parliament on Wednesday approved a “health pass” that allows vaccinated people or people that are immune to Sars-CoV-2 to attend large-scale events in closed areas.
As of Wednesday, nearly 19 million people in France (28% of the population) have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The French government aims to vaccinate 20 million people by the middle of May, and 30 million by the middle of June.
