(VOVworld) – The High Command of Military Zone 3 presented gifts to soldiers and people in Con Co island of Quang Tri province on Friday and monitored readiness for combat during the Lunar New Year festival or Tet.

Leaders of Con Co said the island authority and local people have stockpiled sufficient food for the Tet celebration. The defense command has assigned soldiers to be ready for action to ensure security in the island.

The same day, leaders of Can Tho city, Ca Mau, Dong Thap, An Giang, and Vinh Long province visited and presented gifts to soldiers and people of Military Zone 5. Colonel Nguyen Van Dong, Vice Commander of Military Zone 5, said: "The local authority’s visit and well wishes for Tet is a great encouragement for us. We’re always ready to fight to protect national sea and island territories."

The leaders will also visit Tho Chu, Nam Du, Hon Khoai, and Hon Chuoi islands.
