(VOVWORLD) -Iran had already informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of its decision to start enriching uranium to 60% purity at its Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant in November 2022, Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said on Sunday.

His statement responded to joint statement by the US, UK, France and Germany which accused Iran of "inconsistency in meeting its nuclear obligations as indicated by a recent IAEA report”.

Mentioning the IAEA's inspection of the Fordow facility in January, Kanaani confirmed that no new or contradictory measures have been taken at the facility compared to what was announced in November.

The IAEA last Friday criticized Iran for making an "undeclared change" to the interconnection between two clusters of advanced machines enriching uranium to up to 60 percent purity, 16 times higher than the permissible threshold and very close to nuclear weapons, at the Fordow plant.
