According to Reuters, mask-wearing Vietnamese went to the polls with tens of millions expected to select outstanding representatives to the new legislature and People's Councils.

Amid the complicated COVID-19 developments, measures were taken to ensure the safety of the elections under which constituencies must strictly apply epidemic prevention and control plans. In concentrated quarantine areas, ballot boxes are disinfected and delivered to each voter, said Reuters.

Malaysia’s Bernama news agency reported that Vietnam’s military force is ready to ensure safety for the Election Day.

It quoted Vietnamese Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang as asking military units to increase measures to gain a clear insight into the current situation and conduct regular information exchanges to make correct predictions on sabotaging schemes of hostile forces.

The units were tasked with monitoring the country’s airspace, sea, islands, borders, and inland areas and cyberspace, said Bernama.

It reported that Minister Giang ordered the readiness of personnel and facilities for any situations and the preparations of additional plans to ensure security and safety for the election.

India’s Economic Times on Saturday ran an article by veteran reporter Dipanjan Roy Chaudhury, stressing that preparation for the political event was made in accordance with the COVID-19 developments. According to the article, local authorities of Vietnam have response plans and prioritise efforts to prevent and control the pandemic to ensure the safety and success of the elections.

The same day, the Eurasia Review published an article by Rajaram Panda, a senior fellow at Nehru Memorial Museum and Library under  the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, saying that the elections are an important political event in Vietnam.
It is organized in very professional manner with a high sense of law compliance and the rights and responsibilities of each Vietnamese citizen, said Eurasia Review.
