An article by David Hutts in the Asian Times said "Vietnam’s ruling Communist Party is leveraging the Covid-19 crisis to win hearts and minds by touting its quick, effective and uncharacteristically transparent management of the viral outbreak."

World Health Organization Representative in Vietnam Dr. Kidong Park praised the Vietnamese government’s active response to the pandemic.

The Diplomat said Vietnamese authorities have been transparent with disease information and have allowed unrestricted information to be posted on Facebook.

Several other newspapers, including The New York Times and US News&World Report have acknowledged Vietnam’s measures to slow the spread of Covid-19, including suspending the issuing of new visas and cancelling previously issued visas, and closing schools and entertainment facilities until the end of March.

Bloomberg noted that Vietnam’s military has set up quarantine facilities to house 60,000 people as thousands of Vietnamese return home from virus-affected areas abroad.

International media also quoted British Ambassador to Vietnam Gareth Ward’s expressions of gratitude toward the Vietnamese government for supporting UK citizens in Vietnam who have contracted Covid-19 over the past weeks.
