The Ministry voiced its support for Palestinians and  called on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the UN Security Council to help protect Palestinians’ rights.

In a Facebook post, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said Israel and Palestine need to end the violence and restore peace immediately, and offered Egypt’s support.

More than 200 people were killed in attacks during the past week.

The same day, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry had separate phone conversations with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok about the situation in the Gaza Strip. Shoukry said Egypt is trying to effect a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine, and said a two-state solution is the only way to end this conflict.

The World Food Program is providing emergency aid to more than 51,000 people in northern Gaza Strip, and calling for 46 million USD in donations to support its activities in the region. The organization warned that the current lockdown at border gates into the Gaza Strip will lead to goods scarcity and higher food prices.
