The country is reporting over 40,000 cases daily while in India the number has dropped to more than 32,000 cases. More worryingly, Indonesia's population is only one-fifth of India's, but the rate of Covid-19 infections is more than double.

On July 7, Indonesia expanded nationwide curbs to battle its deadliest Covid-19 wave. Health experts have urged the government to tighten travel restriction and improve trace and testing capacity.
