Member states of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) passed a resolution yesterday/ on Friday, calling on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea  to "cooperate promptly" with the atomic agency. The 4-day 56th IAEA General Conference that ended on Friday stresses its desire for a diplomatic resolution of the North Korea  nuclear issue so as to achieve the complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. The resolution  reaffirms that North Korea cannot have the status of a nuclear- weapon state" under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which entered into force in 1970 to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. In a recent report, the nuclear watchdog said the North Korea’s construction of the reactor and its uranium enrichment activities have aroused serious concerns.
