Addressing the ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said that the recognition requires Vietnam to conserve and promote cultural values of the citadel and other heritage sites: “The recognition is a joyful pride for local people and Vietnamese nationwide. Ho Dynasty citadel and other world recognized tangible and intangible sites demonstrate the time honored national culture. This will help international friends understanding more about the Vietnamese land and people and opens up new opportunities for tourism and cultural research in the country."

The Ho Dynasty Citadel was Vietnam ’s capital under the Ho Dynasty in the 14th century. It is the only one built entirely of stone in Vietnam and remained almost intact through history. Thanh Hoa province will launch new tours to Ho Dynasty Citadel and neighboring historical relics to introduce local heritage tourism potential.
