Nguyen Xuan Thang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, told participants that the President’s burning desire for independence, freedom, and happiness, his leadership to revolutionary victories, and his thoughts have guided Vietnam and are guiding Vietnam to further accomplishments.

“To build socialism, President Ho Chi Minh ordered that four things be guaranteed to our people: food, clothing, housing, and education. These are our ultimate goals in encouraging all people to work for independence and freedom. People deserve independence and freedom. President Ho Chi Minh’s ‘for the people’ ideology is easily understood. It’s the lodestar of Vietnam’s socialism construction,” said Thang.

On June 5, 1911,  Ho Chi Minh left Vietnam to embark on a journey of national salvation. During his 30 years in France, the Soviet Union, and China, he participated in a variety of communist and world labor movements. The lessons he learned were applied to define the Party’s leadership, Vietnam’s revolutions, national independence, and socialism.
