Ho Chi Minh City festival honors Vietnamese ao dai

(VOVWORLD) - 100,000 people attended the annual Ao Dai (traditional long dress) Festival, which closed in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday night.

The 2-week event delivered the message “I love Vietnamese Ao Dai”. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Tourism Promotion, said: “The organizing board is hopeful about the response of people living in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam. We want people of all social strata and age groups to attend the festival and help spread the message about Vietnam’s traditional dress.”

This year Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’Hen Nie, who reached an historic top five finish at the Miss Universe 2018 contest, was the representative of the festival. The event featured a beauty pageant, a photo competition, a seminar on materials for Ao Dai, and parades. Festival goers were introduced to Ao Dai collections by 26 designers from across Vietnam and a designer from South Korea. On the opening day, 3,000 people wearing Ao Dai paraded along Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street.
