It was  part of Ireland’s “Global Greening” campaign and carried out by Quang Tri province People’s Committee and the Ireland Embassy in Vietnam.

Green is the national color of Ireland, said Ireland Ambassador to Vietnam John McCullagh. He added that lighting up Hien Luong bridge in green signifies connectivity and the deep ties between Ireland and Vietnam.

Ireland Ambassador and Quang Tri province’s officials, along with 120 athletes participated in a marathon called “We run - We share” at Hien Luong bridge and handed over a mobile functional rehabilitation vehicle for RENEW project, a cooperative programme to eliminate unexploded war-time ordnance and support victims funded by the Irish Government.
