A new form of travel permit having QR code will be put into use on Wednesday which is required to go through checkpoints in the city. 

The capital has been enforcing social distancing since July 24 which requires local people to stay at home and only go out for basic necessities like buying food or medicines or to work at places that are still allowed to open.

Hanoi has recorded more than 3,500 COVID-19 cases since April 27.

More than 3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to local residents.
