(VOVworld) – Hanoi hosted a meeting on Saturday in response to the World Environment Day on June 5th. Themed ‘Green Economy: Does it include you?’, this year’s event calls on every individual, community, and enterprise around the globe to join hands to contribute responsibility in developing a green economy, a new economic model.
Addressing the meeting, Vu Hong Khanh, Vice President of the municipal People’s Committee, said Hanoi has advantages in natural and social conditions, and policies to develop a green economy. But on this way, many businesses are facing challenges due to backward production technology that has caused energy waste, low productivity, and environmental pollution. Mr. Khanh says 'Hanoi’s People’s Committee calls on each individual and organization in the city to join efforts to build a green economy, The involvement of organizations, enterprises, and citizens will contribute to changing public awareness and encouraging investment and use of renewal energy, saving of natural resources, reduction of green house emission, and restoration of the natural ecosystem'.
