There are 81 candidates for the next Party term, of whom 71 will be elected.

Nguyen Thanh Hoc, deputy head of the Hanoi Party Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, said the nomination of candidates and the personnel project approved by the Politburo have been carried out in a transparent and democratic manner with the highest responsibility and consensus.

Hoc said the Congress has set comprehensive goals for developing Hanoi in the next period.

“Hanoi is positioned to become one of most competitive cities in the region by 2025. It will achieve its industrialization target with Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) reaching somewhere between 8,300 and 8,500 USD. By 2030, Hanoi will be a green, smart, modern city with a per-capita GRDP between 12,000 and 13,000 USD. By 2045, Hanoi will be globally connected with a per-capita GRDP of 36,000 USD,” said Hoc.
