Officials said there has been a 50% increase in runners over last year’s contest. Among those running are hundreds of foreigners, who are working and studying in the city.
Ngo Van Quy, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee, said through the event, Hanoi wants to convey a message of peace to the world calling for joint efforts to make a globe of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.

The annual event is also to celebrate 62 years since Hanoi was liberated and 17 years Hanoi was recognized by UNESCO as a city of peace.
