A decision of the Hanoi People’s Committee on Friday approved the proposal made by the municipal Department of Education and Training to suspend allowing these graders to return to school until further notice.

The COVID-19 outbreak is currently evolving in a complex nature in the capital, with between 3,000 and 4,000 new infections recorded on a daily basis, posing a threat to the community.

Meanwhile, an intensified cold wave hit Hanoi early Saturday, keeping the northern region in a state of cold over the next few days.

These factors have caused parents to worry about sending their children to school, leading to a low consensus rate among parents in this regard.

Students from grades 7-12 in 12 urban districts have already resumed in-person learning.
