(VOVworld) – The northern city of Hai Phong celebrated the 60th anniversary of its liberation day on Saturday in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
The government leader said that with an important strategic position the city should carry out a number of measures to boost its development: “In the new phase of development, the Party committee, government, and people of Hai Phong should enhance the city’s revolutionary tradition, dynamism, and creativity for further growth. Hai Phong should be developed into a green, modern, and civilized city and a highly competitive service and industrial center. It should be the core center for maritime economic development in Vietnam and a major education, training, healthcare, science, technology and transport center of the northern coastal region. People’s living conditions should improve steadily. The city should be a fortress for national defense.”

To achieve these targets, Prime Minister Dung asked the city to facilitate business production, develop industries and services with high added value, step up agriculture restructuring and new rural development, devise policies to attract investment, and improve human resource development.
