The delegates agreed that the macro-economy remained stable in the past 4 months with consumption price index increasing 0.14% from the previous month, contributing to sustaining economic growth. Foreign currency exchange rates remained stable while positive changes have been recorded in the disbursement of ODA and preferential loans. FDI attraction is estimated to reach 4.2 billion USD, up 5% from the same period last year. High growth is seen in processing, manufacturing, and service industries. Total retail sales of consumer goods recorded a strong increase, indicating recovery of purchasing power and general demand while social security and order has been ensured.

However, the government pointed out difficulties facing Vietnam’s economy including increasing import surplus and decreasing numbers of international visitors to Vietnam.

The delegates also discussed the issuance of government bonds in the international capital market and the national poverty reduction program.
