Global COVID-19-related deaths pass the 1.5 million mark

(VOVWORLD) - Global COVID-19-related deaths have passed the 1.5 million mark. According to an AFP tally released on Friday, the number of deaths caused by the coronavirus has recorded more than 10,000 cases per day worldwide, an unprecedented level.

The US remains the country with the highest number of deaths over recent days. While countries around the world are accelerating the process of approving COVID-19 vaccines and vaccination programs, preventive and lockdown measures are still recommended to restrict the spread of the alarming infection rate as winter comes.

More than 180 countries have been participating in Covax, a global initiative led by the World Health Organization aimed at working with vaccine manufacturers to provide countries equitable access to safe and effective vaccines.
