(VOVworld) – The coalition of Germany’s Christian Democrats (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU) is at its highest level in the past 10 years.

According to a story in the Baltimore Sun newspaper, the CDU/CSU coalition would win an absolute majority to form a new government if a general election took place today. A survey of 1,860 people showed that for the first time since June 2005 support for the coalition stood at 43 percent. The Social Democratic Party got just 24 percent, followed by the Greens with 10 percent, and the Left Party with 9 percent.
