Maas told Rheinische Post that he did not see any chance of allowing Russia back into the G7 as long as there is no meaningful progress in resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
Maas described the current relationship with Russia as difficult in many areas, but admitted that the world needs Russia to resolve conflicts in Syria, Libya, and Ukraine.
