Merkel said Germany is determined to tackle the huge challenge posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, calling it the greatest challenge in history. She highlighted areas that Europe needs to work on if it wants to emerge unified and strong from the current crisis, which include fundamental rights, solidarity and cohesion, climate change, digitization, and Europe’s role in the world.
