(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam, along with India, continues to be one of the most interesting potential markets in the Asian-Pacific region, according to economist Daniel Müller of the German Asia-Pacific Business Association.

Müller told Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Germany that the Vietnamese economy has recovered significantly and dynamically, as evidenced by nearly 207 billion USD in trade turnover in the first four months of 2021, its fastest trade turnover growth in 10 years.

Export value in the first quarter was up 22% from last year.

It will be difficult for Vietnam to maintain that growth rate in the second quarter, however, with a new COVID-19 outbreak hindering border re-opening.

Müller predicts that Vietnam’s economic growth rate will be equivalent to the average level of previous years.
