Indirect talks between Iran and the United States on salvaging the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) resumed on Monday.

Jean-Yves Le Drian said he remains convinced they can reach a deal. Discussions have been heading in a positive direction in the last few days, he said, adding that time is of the essence, because if an accord is not reached quickly, there will be nothing to negotiate.

Western powers have said progress was too slow and negotiators had "weeks not months" left before the 2015 deal becomes meaningless.
