Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet said the Report was approved by the Prime Minister on March 22, 2022 for publication and to be sent to the UN Human Rights Council. The report has shown Vietnam’s responsibility, transparency and seriousness towards the UPR Mechanism in particular and in honoring its international commitments on ensuring human rights as Vietnam is running for a seat at the Human Rights Council, he said.

Mr. Viet affirmed Vietnam’s willingness to work with member states and stakeholders to uphold the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, and strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of the Human Rights Council through dialogue, cooperation and mutual respect.

Speaking at the event, Acting UN Resident Coordinator Rana Flowers applauded Vietnam's commitment and efforts in promoting and protecting human rights. She reiterated the UN commitment to stand side by side with Vietnam to promote and protect human rights, promote the principles of international law, and realize the sustainable development goals, leaving no one behind.
