Early last month, the Prime Minister approved the Plan on the implementation of the Agreement on Port State Measures to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing by 2025 as drafted by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). Vietnam has boosted local and international cooperation, especially with the EC in its effort to remove the yellow card over illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. This is crucial for Vietnam to regain world prestige and fulfill the goal of maintaining sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy through 2030. This reflects Vietnam’s outstanding role as the ASEAN Chair 2020 and non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure and in the context of the implementation of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement.
