In response to reporters’ questions about citizen protection for forced Vietnamese laborers in Cambodia, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang has cited various supportive measures, including a 24/7 telephone hotline between the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia and local authorities while raising public awareness on the issue. More than 400 cases have been brought home while legal advice, guidance and support have been given to more than 1,500 citizens facing immigration issues or legal violation.

Relating to Vietnam’s prevention of illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing, the spokeswoman hailed Vietnam’s policy to promote sustainable maritime economy and its active participation in the regional plan of action to tackle IUU fishing. Vietnam is willing to cooperate with regional countries and the international community to promote cooperation and share experience in this issue for efficient and sustainable fishing management in line with international law.
