The mayor of Montreuil City (L) and Vietnamese Ambassador Tran Ngoc Son beat a drum marking the opening of the festival.

Ambassador Son comments on the role of friendship associations: "Co-operation between friendship associations and Vietnam has developed efficiently through practical projects on humanity, education, healthcare, and poverty reduction. These projects are useful for Vietnam’s remote areas. Apart from co-operation among the two governments and localities, the relations with associations and non-governmental organisations have brought in fruitful results.”
A number of topics were discussed at the festival focusing on solidarity, health, education, teaching French, development issues, environment, Vietnam’s latest socio-economic achievements and up-coming challenges.
