 EU heads of state meeting in Brussels on Thursday and Friday may back new measures which go beyond the sanctions imposed by the UN. According to a draft final statement of the EU summit, the recent behavior of North Korea is unacceptable and poses a significant threat to the Korean peninsula and beyond. The European Council will consider further responses in close consultation with partners and the EU will continue to urge other countries to fully implement the UN sanctions.
