The meeting will be co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, with the participation of leaders from more than 20 countries, the statement said.

The ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas entered into effect on Friday, following three days of intensive negotiations in Sharm El Sheikh between the two sides mediated by Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye and the United States. The two sides have agreed to the “first phase” of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan to cease fighting in Gaza and release at least some hostages and prisoners, in a major breakthrough in the two-year-old conflict.

An Egyptian government statement said Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed preparations for the Sharm El-Sheikh summit in a phone call.

According to Egyptian media, invitations have been extended to leaders or foreign ministers from Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Indonesia.
