Egypt to import one million tons of rice from Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - Egypt will purchase one million tons of rice from Vietnam within three to four months, said Rajab Shehata, head of the rice division of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) on Thursday.

 Egypt’s online newspaper Ahramquoted Shehata as saying that Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang’s visit to Egypt has resulted in the deal which will take effect next week.

Shehata said the import will strengthen Egypt’s strategic rice reserve for next year.
