The Egyptian foreign ministry spokesman, Ahmed Abu Zeid, Shoukry delivered a letter from Egypt’s President, Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, to Abbas, conveying solidarity and support to the Palestinians. Shoukry reiterated Egypt's commitment to supporting the legitimate right of Palestinians to establish an independent state according to the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Earlier Shoukry met with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyadh Al-Malki to discuss methods of promoting cooperation and coordination between the two sides to guarantee their mutual interests and provide necessary support for the Palestinian people in gaining their legitimate rights.
