The ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Education and Training, was also attended by President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
It was also connected online to schools and training institutions nationwide, with around 1.6 million teachers and nearly 26 million students observing. For the first time, every educational institution across Vietnam simultaneously saluted the flag and sang the national anthem at the opening of the school year.
Party leader To Lam called for strong action to bring Vietnam’s education system closer to global standards, in line with Resolution 71 recently issued by the Politburo.

The entire Party must innovate its leadership on education, not impose old standards on modern learning, but ensure consistent, effective direction and implementation, Mr. Lam stressed.
“The National Assembly should improve the legal framework to support reform, the Government should increase investment and remove policy bottlenecks, and the education sector should pioneer new thinking and management methods. Teachers must be both knowledgeable and ethical, inspiring students to aim high, learn diligently and become global citizens, while preserving Vietnamese identity,” said the Party General Secretary.
