Two local businesses have also signed agreements with Japanese and Spanish partners for technology transfer to produce Shionogi and Hipra vaccines, the Ministry said.

“Domestic vaccine production must be accelerated. Scientists need to discuss and give recommendations to the Government on the purchase of vaccines including those for children in the near future,” Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam told the meeting.

Mr. Dam urged the Health Ministry to complete the trials and address copyright issues for the COVID-19 drug Molnupiravir. He asked domestic businesses to speed up production of test kits so that people can perform self-tests at the lowest cost.
