(VOVworld) - Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai informed the Secretary General of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) that Vietnam has responsibly imposed regional and international agreement on protecting wild plants and animals.

In a meeting with John E. Scanlon, Mr. Hai said Vietnam will improve the capacity of central and local agencies in fighting the cross-border smuggling of wild species, while improving legal protection for wildlife and increasing public awareness of the issue.
Scanlon affirmed that CITES would continue to facilitate Vietnam’s wildlife conservation, helping it effectively implement the convention.
He also proposed strengthening cooperation in the legal trading of several animals in order to improve the benefits to local people.
