The Deputy Prime Minister called on the Institute to continue to make worthy contributions to the common cause for the country to develop faster and more sustainably, affirm national sovereignty over seas and islands, and preserve peace, stability and cooperation in the East Sea.

“Sustainable development cannot be achieved without paying attention to science and technology. A nation stretching out to the sea cannot help but pay attention to marine economy and marine science. Therefore, this is a great honor and responsibility of the Institute of Oceanography today and in the future. We deserve this arduous and honorable mission,” Deputy PM Dam said.

Throughout its history, the Institute of Oceanography has provided basic scientific data on natural conditions, oceanographic processes, ecosystems, environmental status, biodiversity, and resources in the East Sea. It has released research results on the marine circulation system in relation to the monsoon regime, geomorphology and geology of the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos, the process of erosion, accretion, characteristics of ecosystems, and biology-ecology.
